The Sport Of Shooting

Shooting is a sport that can be adapted for all abilities – it can be adjusted to suit each individual’s needs to achieve the same goal.

Kelvin, a wheelchair-user for over 20 years, recently picked up the sport of shooting and learned what adaptations he would need. Shooters like him wear a jacket to support their posture. They then rest their elbow on the table, which acts as a tripod for holding their rifle to then shoot the target.

At times, the training schedules preparing for competitions can be demanding, especially when you’re raising a family, but Kelvin knows what his priorities are. “It really is not easy…” he shares, “You end up having to balance.”

“You first need to have the ability to put food on the table before you dedicate your time to do something you like. In this case, passion for sports. It took me 20 years…If you got people to support you, just go for it.”
