Seven years ago, Alexandria Allen became a paraplegic as a result of a drunk driving accident. She states, “I decided that when I woke up from surgery that I wanted to use this (injury) for a purpose.”
Alexandria has set out to make a difference. She recently participated in an attempt to break a Guinness World Record for the most simultaneous first pitches thrown at a baseball game. Alexandria hopes were to raise awareness for people with disabilities as her story was played on the big screen.
“You literally can do anything, if you have the right mindset.”
The event took place in between a doubleheader at Clipper Magazine Stadium in Lancaster, PA. Alexandria was one of more than three hundred participants.
The current record is 111 pitches in Japan in 2011. The event in Clipper Magazine Stadium had 151 pitches. However, there still has to be proof of the event submitted to the Guinness World Record.
