Weldon Rehabilitation Center at Mercy Medical Center

Restoring independence and helping people heal after illness or injury is the mission of Weldon Rehabilitation Hospital. This is one of only 28 hospitals of its type in the United States, accredited by the Commission for the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF)*. Weldon is the only Massachusetts hospital within a 50-mile radius of Springfield to earn CARF accreditation. The heart of Weldon’s expertise is its care for complex, neurologically and medically involved patients—those with multiple, simultaneous problems. Each hospitalized patient is seen daily by a physiatrist—a physician who treats injuries and disabilities with a battery of nonsurgical treatments such as physical and occupational therapy, prescription medications, acupuncture and spinal injections.
