Do you want to work out, but don’t have access to the gym? No problem! Paul Brailer, the founder of Criptaedo, demonstrates some arm exercises that can be done at home, especially for wheelchair users.
The first exercise Paul demonstrates is what he refers to as “chair-ups.” Grab the armrests of your wheelchair, press down through your hands extending your arms while lifting your body from the chair.
You can, of course, use free weights to exercise your arms. However, if you do not have free weights, Paul holds a can of soup as his weight because the cans come in all shapes and sizes. Paul suggests using a wrist weight If you can not physically grip a dumbbell or can. Wrist weights come in various sizes and wrap around one’s wrist.
Paul demonstrates different movements that can be done with the weights or cans such as extending your arm up, out, and/or to the side for however many repetitions you are comfortable with. Paul also demonstrates a bicep curl (turning your arm over and bending it at the elbow while holding weight or can) and a forearm curl (turning your hand over and bending it at the wrist while holding weight or can.)
