Crossfit Without Legs

Crossfit is a way of life for Zack. Not only does he train, he also owns a gym where he coaches other crossfit athletes.

Zack’s philosophy can be summed up with these words: “You’re not going to use ‘can’t’ in my gym.”

Zack was born with deformed legs, and had them amputated when he was two years old. He’s been a wheelchair user ever since.

Physical activity has always been a part of Zack’s life. He shares how when he was a child, his mother would make him do things on his own like crawl to get his bottles, and even climb onto the kitchen counters to reach the cereal on top of the fridge. Zack also played high school football, oftentimes leaving his opponents baffled at facing an opposing player with no legs.

Zack has turned his love for sports and working out into a business. He owns and operates Crossfit Uncontested in Houston, Texas. Zack trains able bodied individuals who sometimes have questions on whether or not he’ll help them work out their legs. “Dude, I don’t have them, but I know how to work them out,” Zack says with a laugh.

Zack has also opened up his training schedule to individuals with disabilities – free of charge.

“If you have a disability and you feel like you can’t reach your goal, that’s not the case at all.”

Mohshai is a Crossfit Uncontested client who has cerebral palsy. Zack has worked with Mohshai to increase not only her physical ability, but her confidence as well. “He knows my limitations and then he goes, ‘but no you can do better than that.’” shares Mohshai. “It’s pretty cool.”

Zack’s crossfit training is making a difference in the lives of all of his clients. “If it can change somebody else’s life around for the good then I’m happy,” he shares.
