    James Weisman is a disability rights advocate. During his time as General Counsel for the Eastern Paralyzed Veterans Association, he contributed to the drafting of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and attended its signing ceremony.

    In his role as CEO and General Counsel for the United Spinal Association, Weisman was involved in legal actions that led to nationwide improvements in accessibility, including better curb cuts and more accessible bus and subway systems. His work also contributed to the creation of paratransit services and led to policies that made New York City taxis more accessible. Some other cities have since adopted similar policies
