#AthletesWeLove: Nina Nissly, USA
“There are no limits when you are determined”
Nina Nissly is a 3 time IHSA Illinois state champion, holding 3 records in swimming. 50 Freestyle, 100 Freestyle and 200 Freestyle in the Athletes with Disabilities category. She has also been runner-up for the Comcast Sports Awards Most Inspirational Athlete 2 times, has been athlete of the Week for her High school and also got to go the 2010 Paralympics in Vancouver. Nina also is certified in open water scuba diving and has done every sport from wheelchair basketball to track and even competitive archery and both water and snow skiing.
However her favorite sport is Sled or Sledge hockey. She plays for a club team, but also represents her country on the US Women’s National Sledge Hockey team. She has traveled all over the US, Canada and Norway playing with her teammates. She aspires to keep improving and shoot higher! “Balancing College and sports is a challenge, but its worth it if you love what you do,” she shares.
