#AthletesWeLove: Josh Cassidy, wheelchair racing

Wheelchair racer crossing the finish line

Josh Cassidy got into the wheelchair racing world at 15 years old after being inspired by Canadian legend Jeff Adams. He made his first National team in 2006 and competed in his first Paralympic Games in Beijing in 2008. While he didn’t medal, he recorded the 4th fastest time in the 5000m in Paralympic history. After Beijing, he continued his career by competing in the London Marathon in 2010. In 2012 Josh won the Boston Marathon, where he recorded the fastest time set by a man in a wheelchair – 1:18:25. During the week of the London 2012 games, Josh finished 5th place finish in the 800m and is now training for Rio up to twice a day, 6 days a week during the busiest part of the season. He’s committed and he’s unstoppable!
