“I immediately loved the water and the freedom I had in it.”

A volleyball player in her younger years, Beth was introduced to swimming as a form of therapy after being paralyzed in a car accident. She first joined a club team, then her high school team. Beth qualified to participate in the 2004 Athens Paralympics, but declined in order to attend Harvard University. While at Harvard, she joined the swim team to improve her techniques with her eyes on the 2008 Beijing Paralympics. While on the Harvard team she set American records and racked up medals in international competitions before competing in Beijing in 2008, placing 5th and 8th in the world in her two events. Now retired from competitive swimming, Beth is a laywer in addition to being on AbleThrive’s board of directors. To put it in fewer words, she’s a rockstar!
