Wearing High Heels

“Choosing the right heels is important…I recommend a wedge or a wider heel because it’ll give your feet better balance on your footplate,” says Ali Stroker, actress and member of the Walk & Roll Wheelchair Dance Team. However Ali’s demonstration tackles a more difficult heel, the stiletto!

She starts with how to get them on her feet.

“I sometimes like to buy my heels one size bigger than what I normally wear because it makes it so much easier to put them on.”

She demonstrates getting each one shoe on to what she lovingly refers to as her “muppet feet”. Once wearing high heels, she hangs the stiletto heels behind the footplate and then makes sure that her calf strap is right behind the back of the heel. “It’s holding your feet in place,” she says.
