United Spinal Updates

Thank You OTs For Making A Difference

As April is Occupational Therapy Month, we’d like to acknowledge the instrumental impact that OTs have on the disability community and their role in helping individuals with spinal cord injuries and disorders (SCI/D) achieve greater independence and quality of life.

This year we’ve been lucky to work with two Doctor of Occupational Therapy students, Anna Ellison (left) and Emily Bowman (right) who have been completing their capstone projects with United Spinal.

Anna’s project has focused on access to healthcare in the SCI/D community and promoting accessibility to medical equipment.

Emily has worked to bridge the gap between occupational therapy services that promote social participation and individuals aging with a spinal cord injury.

Thank you both for your hard work and for your commitment to the SCI/D community.

Occupational therapy is the only profession that helps people across the lifespan to do the things they want and need to do through the therapeutic use of daily activities (occupations). Occupational therapy practitioners enable people of all ages to live life to its fullest by helping them promote health, and prevent—or live better with—injury, illness, or disability.
