Relationships Before & After Spinal Cord Injury

“It’s very important that people remember that relationships after injury are also based on the relationships that were there before injury.”

Robin Dorfman is a Clinical Health Psychologist from Northwestern University Medical Center. An injury doesn’t necessarily erase problems that were there before, and at times, the problems may even be amplified. By the The wonderful parts of relationships also don’t need to change just because someone’s been injured. No matter the type of relationship- romantic, friendly, or family- it’s important to understand the context and foundation of the relationship to help support the inevitable impact of a spinal cord injury or other disability.
