Quadriplegic Clips His Fingernails

Chris is a C5/C6 quadriplegic. And while he can’t move his fingers, he’s still mastered a way to clip his fingernails independently.

Chris has mounted a finger nail clipper to the edge of a table. When it’s time for the chore of clipping his nails, he first lays out a t-shirt on his lap to catch the clippings. Then he pulls his chair up to the corner of the table so that he can easily access the clippers.

First up is his right hand. He carefully inserts his right thumb nail into the clippers, then uses the base of the palm of his left hand to push the handle of the clippers downward.

At 3:40, Chris turns around and faces the camera to give his audience a more detailed look at how he trims the nails on his left hand.

The entire process takes him about 8 minutes to complete. And in the end, Chris has some neatly trimmed nails as he goes about his days.
