Buckling a seatbelt is actually pretty hard sometimes, says Meg, a mom who is a quadriplegic with limited hand function. She demonstrates how she accomplishes buckling her seatbelt.
Once in the car, Meg reaches back and uses her wrist to pull the seatbelt forward. She then places the back of her hand directly behind the seatbelt tongue and pulls it across her body. Lastly, she positions the tongue above the buckle and pushes it in using the palm of her hand. Meg says it took her a lot of practice to get this technique down, but she proves it can be done.
“… and then you feel like a champion.”
