Pint-Sized Ballerina

Madeline is a young girl who loves to dance. Her older sister was enrolled in a ballet class, and “of course Madeline wants to do everything her big sister does,” shares Madeline’s mom Aimee. And so the tiny dancer began ballet lessons at age 3.

Madeline was born without one bone in her leg, and she also had a shorter bone in her thigh. Her foot was normally formed. In order for Madeline to be able to wear a prosthesis to help her walk, her parents decided to have her foot amputated. “We wanted to limit the amount of surgery she would have in her childhood,” says Aimee, and amputation was the best option for them.

Madeline is a bundle of smiles and energy when she’s on the dance floor. She twirls and hops with confidence. And she will be performing alongside all the other ballerinas her age in her first recital. “The fact that she’s going to be in the actual show, we’re looking forward to seeing what kind of experience she has up there,” shares Madeline’s father Frederick.

We have a feeling Madeline is going to tackle her recital with enthusiasm!
