When Andrew Angulo was 32, he suffered a T7 spinal cord injury from a motorcycle crash in June 2009.
He admits that his outlook on life was grim immediately following his injury.
“One of my first thoughts was that all the activities I loved to do with my boys [ages 7 and 9] were over.”

Andrew began searching for videos online made by others with SCI showing how they do things in their daily lives. And within the first year of his injury, Andrew began making his own videos to show what his life was now like in a wheelchair.
After purchasing a digital camera, teaching himself Photoshop, he carefully crafted videos and shared them with the world. He began highlighting and photographing people with all types of disabilities and dreamed about creating unusual images in his new world of photography.

“After putting my videos and my photography online, people contacted me, wanting me to photograph and video them and even make business films,” Andrew said. This sparked the creation of his business, DisabledLifeMedia.com, that showcases people with disabilities.
Something that was just a hobby and fun pastime is now his career. He enjoys putting together unique images and highlighting experiences. Andrew is an avid attendee of the Los Angles Abilities Expo. He’s been filming the Expo since 2010.
“In my wildest dreams before my accident, I never, never would have thought of myself as a photographer or a videographer.”
Andrew understands that the people he now connects with will have a strong impact on what’s to come for him. “I know that being able to make connections with people – whether in using my photography or making my videos – will continue to be a big part of my future,” he said.
