New partnership with TandemStride revolutionizes trauma recovery

TandemStride announces the official launch of its purpose-built peer-to-peer platform, dedicated to supporting individuals and their families following a traumatic injury. United Spinal Association will be part of their peer network alongside the Trauma Survivors Network (TSN), Amputee Coalition and Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation. This will offer users a nationwide collection of resources and trained peers with lived experience.

The power of peer support

Millions of people experience trauma each year in the United States. TandemStride aims to create a robust community built on a foundation of shared, lived experiences. The company was founded by Matt Kalina, inspired by his brother’s journey through a traumatic bilateral amputation. They are on a mission to provide holistic support beyond clinical care.

“As someone who witnessed the power of community during my brother’s journey, I am thrilled to introduce TandemStride. We’re not just a platform; we are a community working in tandem with survivors of life-altering injuries, helping them find their stride,” says Matt Kalina, Founder of TandemStride.

TandemStride offers a lifeline to those on the path to recovery, fostering connections through its innovative app and established national peer networks. The platform matches patients with peers who have triumphed over similar challenges, along with the guidance of the TandemStride Assistant.

Direct partnerships with Trauma Centers

The goal is to improve health outcomes post-injury and build a resilient survivor community through collaboration with trauma centers nationwide.

With this launch, TandemStride will begin enabling peer support at the point of care across 15 trauma centers in 2024. The company is actively partnering with Trauma Centers and Insurance Providers to expand its quality improvement network.

“United Spinal is dedicated to helping individuals and their families survive and thrive through traumatic injury. Our Resource Center provided care and expertise to over 3,000 cases in 2023. Our expansive list of support groups helps people with disabilities and their families navigate the ups and downs of their recovery,” says Alexandra Bennewith, United Spinal’s VP of Government Relations.

“We’re enthusiastic to expand our reach through our partnership with TandemStride”
