Colby Garcia, is a quadriplegic mom. Both of her children who were conceived naturally, carried and then delivered via c-section. She struggled with urinary tract infections during her pregnancy (a common complaint), but her greatest complications had nothing to do with her injury or paralysis.
Getting help when you need it
When it comes to childcare, she has help from her mom. “My mother stepped up to the plate from day one of my injury to help me live as normal of a life as possible,” she shares. Colby is still an active mother, not matter what.
“I know my limitations, but when I can, I look for a solution.”
She is there with them and a participant in family experiences. “I’ve never changed a diaper or dressed by children,” she says, “but it doesn’t mean I’m not their mother.”
