Here’s what the Challenge is all about, it “seeks innovative design solutions that can enable people with physical, sensory, and cognitive disabilities to use automated vehicles to access jobs, healthcare, and other critical destinations.”
As wheelchair users, United Spinal’s members are uniquely qualified to share experiences with all the barriers current vehicles present to a safe, even a comfortable ride. You don’t have to be an automotive engineer to comment on what works and doesn’t work in getting into and out or a vehicle and being secured in your wheelchair while the vehicle is moving.
We want to put your transportation experiences, the good, the bad and yes, the ugly to work in assisting researchers, innovators and entrepreneurs create designs in the physical structure of future vehicle as well as all the amenities automated vehicles promise to deliver.
