Legacy Rehabilitation Institute of Oregon (RIO) is a 36 bed acute comprehensive inpatient rehabilitation unit located on the fifth and sixth floors of Legacy Good Samaritan Medical Center in Portland, OR. RIO offers services to adults who are recovering from stroke, multiple sclerosis, acquired brain injury, amputation, spinal cord injury, multiple trauma and burns. Rehabilitation treatment at RIO includes daily updates with the rehabilitation physician, rehabilitation nursing care and individualized intensive one on one therapy services for at least three hours five days per week. Each patient at RIO has a team of rehabilitation experts that includes a physical medicine and rehabilitation doctor, rehabilitation nurse, occupational therapist, physical therapist, social worker and therapeutic recreation specialist for all patients. A speech and language pathologist and neuropsychologist join the team when needed. RIO also has respiratory therapists and pulmonary doctors to help provide services for people who are dependent on mechanical ventilators for breathing.
