United Spinal Association is mobilizing to provide emergency support to wheelchair users affected by this disaster. We are working to ensure they receive crucial supplies like medical equipment, accessible transportation, and safe, accessible housing options.
What We Do:
United Spinal is offering financial assistance to wheelchair users impacted by Hurricane Helene through personal grants and by working with disaster response agencies to get them the support they need. This can include replacing lost or damaged equipment, securing accessible transportation, housing, and covering other urgent needs. We are in contact with our local chapters in the affected areas to identify those who need support and are encouraging those who need assistance to contact our Resource Center.
Hurricane Helene has devastated communities, leaving many without essential resources. For wheelchair users the situation is even more severe — power outages, flooding, and inaccessible shelters have created life-threatening challenges.
