Peer Support Group Washington DC Area

Join us for our monthly spinal cord injury/disease (SCI/D) support and education group. Every month we will be tackling a new topic, discussion, and presentation about dealing with SCI/D. Topics will range from life integration, fitness and exercise, pain management, driving rehabilitation, back to school and work, sexual functions, preventative care, wound care, and much more.

Members from the group can help with providing ideas for topics. Meetings will be held on the 4^th Thursday of the month from 6:30 to 7:30. Refreshments will be provided.

All meetings are: Open to outpatients and community member with SCI/D.

Goals for the Peer Support Group

• Provide a safe environment to interact and share knowledge about SCI/D.
• Provide peer support about the topics encompassing spinal cord injuries and disorders (SCI/D)
• Offer opportunities for speaker to share expertise on topics in their field, dealing with SCI/D.
• Educate the group about resources relating to SCI/D, and the everyday uses for them.
• Discuss and define misconceptions of living with SCI/D.
