It’s never easy receiving bad news especially when it affects your physical well-being. Aaron only really began to process his disability one year after his accident.
“When the doctor told you that you’re going to spend the rest of your life in a wheelchair…I really took a hit with that information. The realization did not really kick in until after 1 year.”
As he accepted he wouldn’t be able to walk or move his fingers and it really took a toll on him for about 2 to 3 years. He calls it his grieving period. “I’ve lost so much,” he says. “I needed a lot of time to grieve for my loss, but as time slowly goes by, I slowly begin to accept myself and my situation and just learn to live my life with a disability.” Anyone can overcome a disability or tough situation by accepting the situation and the challenges we face.
