Woman Documents Travels With Chalkboard Leg

When Devon decided to take a month-long 12-country tour of Europe, she wanted to document her travels in a unique way.

At 4 years old, Devon’s lower right leg was amputated due to a congenital bone disease. She’s used a prosthetic leg since then. And just before her European vacation, she was fitted for a new prosthetic. But this time she decided to do something a little different.

“Every time I get a new one I can choose the design on it. Chalkboard came to mind, and I asked a few friends about it. They thought it was cool, so I went for it.”

Devon painted her prosthetic leg with chalkboard paint then used brightly colored chalk to write the name of each country and memorable landmarks she visited on her leg – all the while, snapping photos of herself.

“It’s important for people to realize you never know what someone is going through. My leg has taught me a lot about not being judgmental or not assuming things about others. It’s a hard lesson to learn sometimes, but the world would be just a little better if more people had a similar mindset.”

Clearly, Devon had a memorable time on her trip! Be sure to share this post to encourage other to document their travels in fun and unique ways!
