Catherine and Kunho are exploring both the accessibility and the exotic offerings of Gwangjang Market in Seoul, South Korea.
Kunho is a manual wheelchair user, and offers these tips for accessibility:
“Gwangjang Market is a very popular destination and often attracts large crowds, which can make it difficult for wheelchair users to move around. Don’t give up though! Because it’s worth the hassle.”
While all food stalls may not have accessible seats for wheelchair users, Kunho says that vendors are usually helpful and will move tables and chairs around to accommodate. “If all else fails, there’s a table where you can sit and food vendors will come to you and ask what you want to eat.”
The market also has one wheelchair accessible restroom located on the first floor near the shopping complex. And while the market is comprised of several floors, there are no elevators to allow wheelchair users access.
If a bustling atmosphere and traditional Korean cuisine is your idea of fun, then you can’t miss a visit to Gwangjang Market!
