If you’re thinking about visiting France, know that there are several accessible transportation options available to wheelchair users. Joseph videoed his experience with two modes of accessible transportation while he was vacationing in France.
Joseph boards the TGV, France’s high-speed train that operates all over the country. Joseph is traveling from Lorraine to Marne-la-Vallée where Disneyland Paris is located. An attendant wheels out a portable ramp to allow Joseph to wheel safely across the gap between the platform and the train.
Joseph demonstrates how he uses a lift to get on and off a wheelchair accessible shuttle at DeGaulle airport. To get on, Joseph wheels onto the waiting ramp, and an attendant standing inside the shuttle pushes that closes the back of the ramp and lifts Joseph to the height of the shuttle. Once the lift stops, Joseph wheels safely and easily onto the shuttle. Exiting the shuttle is the same process, only in reverse!
