On July 23, disability rights leader and champion Senator Tom Harkin, retired, sat down with our own James Weisman, President and CEO to discuss the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Senator’s indispensable role in making the ADA a reality. Along with Weisman’s tireless advocacy on disability rights for people with disabilities and a host of disability rights leaders and advocates across the nation, the ADA was signed into law on July 26, 1990, 30 years ago.
Joining the discussion to share their experiences with the ADA were advocates, Angie Hulsebus of Iowa, President, United Spinal Association’s Iowa Chapter and Paul Amadeus Lane of California, journalist, broadcaster (and a regular host of our United on Wheels podcasts), Abilities Expo ambassador, accessibility consultant and a member of our Tech Access Group.
