Empulse Power Assist Devices
Wanting an extra push to help you climb slopes or cover long distances? Empulse power-assist devices can aid self-propellers and attendants alike.
The Empulse portfolio includes several power-assist options designed to reduce strain, extend travel distance, and support different mobility needs. From compact pull systems to integrated wheel power, each option helps riders move farther while maintaining the control and efficiency of a manual wheelchair.
Empulse F35: Wheelchair Pull Device
The Empulse F35 delivers power without adding bulk to their wheelchair. Weighing just 16.5 lbs., this compact pull device is easy to transport and quick to attach when extra assistance is needed.
A one-motion docking system allows riders to quickly connect or disconnect the device. The subframe can remain on the wheelchair throughout the day, making it easy to reattach when needed.
With a range of up to nine miles and being capable of handling slopes up to 6°, the F35 helps riders navigate city environments, longer outings, and everyday errands with less effort. Integrated cabling and battery placement keep the design streamlined, while folding handles make storage easier when traveling. The battery is also approved for air travel when verified with individual airlines.
Empulse M90: Wheel Add-On
The Empulse M90 provides power assist directly through the wheelchair wheels, creating a sleek and integrated solution.
Weighing just 26 lbs. for the full system, including wheels, batteries, and controller, the M90 is among the lightest wheel-drive power assist systems available. Each wheel weighs approximately 13 lbs., helping keep weight centered for improved maneuverability.
The removable Dual Controller allows riders to switch between drive modes depending on their environment. Riders can choose powered steering through an all-way toggle or use a speed controller with handrim steering. Paired with the M90 app, riders can adjust drive settings, monitor battery status, and customize performance profiles.
For Zac Wolfe, the difference was immediate:
“When you push a manual chair every single day, every curb, every hill comes with a cost. And that cost is your shoulders. Those repetitive strokes add up fast, but ever since I started using the Empulse M90, everything changed.”
Empulse R90: Wheelchair Push-Assist
The Empulse R90 fits under your chair, staying out of the way while preserving its size and turning circle.
Using the V-LOCK docking system, the R90 attaches securely to most rigid and folding wheelchairs and can be removed quickly when transporting the chair. Riders control the system through a simple push-button control box that allows them to start moving, adjust speed, or raise the drive wheel when power assist is not needed.
The R90 offers flexible battery options, including a standard battery with up to 9.8 miles of range and an extended battery that can reach up to 19.5 miles. Riders can also carry an additional battery to extend their travel distance.
Aspen Baxter shares how the Empulse R90 has made a difference:
“The Empulse R90 has saved me, especially when it comes to my energy levels. The standard battery lasts for 9.8 miles and really has been a game changer.”
Empulse R20: Caregiver Assist
The Empulse R20 is designed to support caregivers and attendants pushing a wheelchair.
Despite weighing less than 10 lbs., the R20 features a 250-watt motor capable of climbing slopes up to 10° and traveling up to nine miles on a single charge. Its foldable design allows for easy transport, and the click-fix docking system enables quick attachment or removal.
When the rider is self-propelling, the device’s free-run mode ensures it does not interfere with manual mobility.
