BIALA 17th Annual Conference
Brain Injury Association of Louisiana / United Spinal Association of Louisiana (BIALA)
BIALA will host its 17th Annual Conference on March 27–28, 2026 in Kenner, Louisiana. This unique two-day event brings together healthcare professionals, individuals living with spinal cord and/or brain injuries, and their caregivers to learn from one another and grow together. In 2025, the conference welcomed over 210 attendees, including 35 wheelchair users and 10 caregivers. In addition to offering continuing education presentations for professionals, we dedicate an entire day to those with lived experience, featuring sessions such as adaptive yoga and mindfulness, poured art, music therapy, self-advocacy talks, and presentations on independent living, adaptive recreation, returning to work and driving, and more. The highlight of the day is our Survivor Social, where recreational therapists lead an afternoon of engaging, inclusive activities designed to build community, confidence, and connection. Many lasting friendships have been formed through this event.
Funds raised will provide free conference registration to survivors and caregivers and help support the Survivor Social, ensuring access, inclusion, and healing through connection.
