What is Open Enrollment?
This is the time that you can update or change your health plans under Medicare, October 15 to December 7.
At Medicare.gov, you can:
- log-in or create an account
- find and compare health drug plans in your area;
- discover care providers, or
- talk to someone at Medicare and find helpful resources.
NEW in 2025, your out-of-pocket costs for covered drugs are capped at $2,000. The cap only applies to drugs covered by your Part D (drug) plan, so review your plan to make sure your drugs are covered. Click here for more information.
NEW Medicare Benefit
- There is also a brand-new benefit called the Medicare Prescription Payment Plan that is available to people on Medicare beginning in 2025.
- This plan allows you to spread your out-of-pocket costs more evenly throughout the year and not have to pay for everything all at once at the beginning of the year.
- Participation is voluntary for people on Medicare, and you can opt-in to this plan now during open enrollment season through December 7.
- This plan might help you stick to taking your needed prescribed medicines and help you better manage any out-of-pocket prescription drug costs.
