Baylor Scott & White Institute for Rehabilitation

Our Approach to Your SCI Rehab

For more than a quarter of a century, we’ve treated patients with spinal cord injury to help increase independence and quality of life. Following injury, we immediately start a comprehensive, highly-integrated and intensive program of medical, nursing and therapy care to address the complex needs of each individual.* Our SCI rehabilitation program is designed to optimize your ability and restore your independence. We incorporate rehabilitation technologies, assistive walking devices, SCI education and a multitude of services specific to an individual with SCI. We use a goal-directed approach that enables you to:

  • Improve physical function and mobility
  • Develop the skills and strategies to perform daily activities
  • Utilize adaptive technologies that facilitate the ability to successfully perform activities at home, work and in the community
  • Overcome the psychological and social problems that often interfere with adjustment to life ahead
  • Develop strategies and skills to address any cognitive difficulties that may also occur with SCI
